Hurricane Flypast

Exciting news!   The RAF Events team have just confirmed that the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Hurricane flypast will take place at 15:14pm on carnival afternoon. After completing a flypast in London for the Queen’s official birthday the Hurricane will make its way to Woodley for a flypast over the carnival field before returning to RAF Benson at 15:37.

Douglas Barder, perhaps the most renowned pilot in the RAF history because of his triumph over disability after losing his legs in a flying accident in Woodley, is always associated with the Spitfire and was shot down in one over France in 1941. In fact during the Battle of Britain he led Hurricane 242 Squadron, based in Duxford.  We are honured to have such a special event as part of the carnival afternoon.

More details about the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight can be found on the Royal Air Force website

The Flypast is of course weather permitting.
